### Instructions:

1. **Prepare the Ribs:**

   - If your ribs have a membrane on the bone side, remove it by sliding a knife under the membrane and then pulling it off.



2. **Season the Ribs:**

   - Season the ribs generously with salt and pepper on both sides.


3. **Sear the Ribs:**

   - Heat vegetable oil in a large oven-safe pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

   - Sear the ribs on all sides until nicely browned. This step helps develop flavor.

4. **Saute Onions and Garlic:**

   - Add chopped onions to the pot and sauté until they are softened and translucent.

   - Add minced garlic and sauté for another minute until fragrant.


5. **Braise the Ribs:**

   - Pour in the beef broth. The liquid should come about halfway up the sides of the ribs.

   - Bring the broth to a simmer, then cover the pot with a lid or foil.


6. **Cook the Ribs:**

   - Transfer the pot to a preheated oven at 300°F (150°C).

   - Cook the ribs for about 2.5 to 3 hours, or until the meat is tender and starts to pull away from the bones.


7. **Optional: Finish with Barbecue Sauce:**

   - If desired, remove the ribs from the pot and brush them with barbecue sauce.

   - Broil or grill the ribs for a few minutes until the sauce caramelizes and forms a sticky glaze.


8. **Serve:**

   - Let the ribs rest for a few minutes before cutting them into individual ribs.

   - Serve hot, optionally with extra barbecue sauce on the side.
